There were also two Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) signed with Asia School of Business and the Malaysian Mensa Society to inculcate a greater understanding and appreciation for green technology and sustainable practices amongst the youth

With regards to electric mobility, the MoU signed with BMW Group Malaysia will see the introduction of the ChargeNow platform for BMW customers. ChargeNow is powered by ChargEV, GreenTech Malaysia’s own brand of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. The platform will allow BMW’s plug-in hybrid users to utilise the over 95 ChargEV stations across Malaysia providing them access to the nation’s largest network of EV charging stations. GreenTech Malaysia is also being designated as the authorised installer for BMW’s residential wall box kit for the automotive pioneer’s customers.

At the launch, BMW Group Malaysia’s Head of Corporate Communications Mr. Sashi Ambi said, “As consumer demand shifts towards more sustainable and eco-friendly modes of transport, BMW is committed to be at the forefront by offering cutting-edge models and services that meet our customers’ changing preferences. The ChargeNow service powered by GreenTech Malaysia’s ChargEV is part of this commitment and will offer our customers access to Malaysia’s largest network of EV charging stations providing them greater convenience wherever they travel.”

The collaboration with the organising committee of IEVE aims to promote electric mobility on an international scale with strategic discussions and cross-promotional activities to increase understanding and interest for the growing electric mobility scene in Asia. In line with this, GreenTech Malaysia intends to participate in the upcoming 4th IEVE to be held in at Jeju Korea in March 2017 while Malaysia will be introduced into the IEVE EV leader roundtable which represents top nations in the sustainable transport landscape.

The first initiative is the GreenTech Youth Innovation Challenge which is currently underway at IGEM 2016, where the top ten teams of university students compete against each other to deliver solutions to current environmental issues.

Speaking about the partnership between academia and corporations, Asia School of Business’ President and Dean, Charles Fine said, “Sustainable, efficient and non-polluting innovative products are the future of industries. The programme is a long-term campaign designed to instil green and sustainable practices within the education sector that will see form four students from schools take part in a four-month school greening challenge.

Malaysian Mensa Society’s Chairperson, Mr Tan Kee Aun said, “As climate change begins to take an increasingly evident toll on our daily lives, there is a pressing need to inculcate greener lifestyles and adopt more sustainable habits. These practises are most easily engrained at a younger age and as such we are pleased to be collaborating with GreenTech IdeasLab to directly engage with the schooling community and foster greater appreciation for green practices.
