Amazon Web Services (AWS) today announced the general availability of AWS Outposts in Malaysia. AWS Outposts delivers fully managed and configurable compute and storage racks built with AWS-designed hardware that allow customers to run AWS compute, storage, database and other services on-premises, while seamlessly connecting to AWS’s broad array of services in the cloud. AWS Outposts brings native AWS services, infrastructure, and operating models to virtually any data center, co-location space, or on-premises facility.
Customers in Malaysia with workloads that require low latency access to on-premises systems, local data processing, or local data storage can benefit from AWS Outposts. These include applications that may need to generate near real-time responses, communicate with other on-premises systems, or control on-site equipment such as factory floor equipment, health management systems, and retail point of sale systems.
With AWS Outposts, customers in Malaysia can also work with the AWS Partner Network (APN) to leverage their deep experience helping businesses move applications to AWS through all aspects of complex migration projects. These can include initial discovery and assessment, planning, migration, and operations, as well as cloud strategy and technology advisory services to migrate and run workloads on AWS Outposts.
TM ONE, the enterprise and public sector business solutions arm of Telecommunications Company Telekom Malaysia Berhad, will use AWS Outposts to transform consumer user experience. This is in line with TM Group’s commitment in enabling Digital Malaysia. Maxis, the leading communications provider in Malaysia, also welcomed the launch of AWS Outposts. AWS Outposts is the natural evolution of the existing strategic collaboration with AWS, and an expansion of Maxis Cloud offerings and Professional Services. Incorporating hybrid cloud will address the need for data residency and edge computing.
InfoFabrica, a leading IT hybrid cloud consulting and managed services company, welcomed the announcement. Many of their enterprise customers look for hybrid cloud solutions that will allow them to move workloads and data seamlessly between on-premises assets and the AWS cloud. AWS Outposts makes this possible by allowing them to run AWS compute and storage on-premises, and also easily and seamlessly integrate on-premises workloads with the rest of their applications in the AWS cloud.
With AWS Outposts, customers can use the same AWS APIs, control plane, tools, and hardware on-premises as in the AWS cloud to deliver a truly consistent hybrid experience.
