IBM Malaysia Accelerates Local Cloud Startups with Industry Leading Global Entrepreneur Program

IBM, the leading enterprise platform for Cloud, officially brings its industry leading IBM Global Entrepreneur Program for Cloud Startups to Malaysia, offering up to USD120,000 worth of credits to qualified Cloud Startups registered for the program.

Harnessing the power of IBM Cloud, the program aims to deeply connect its participants to IBM’s vast global network of enterprise clients, consultants, Innovation Centers and more to rapidly build innovations, scale quickly and accelerate growth.

Cloud Startups will have access to the entire IBM Cloud portfolio built on cloud infrastructure from SoftLayer, an IBM company. This portfolio includes Bluemix, IBM’s cloud platform for app development with more than 75 runtimes and services, all of which will help startups to capture and leverage rising volumes of Big Data from growing mobile and social networks, IoT devices and more. Bluemix includes a broad range of services to develop innovative apps for the cloud, including:

•Integration with Twitter to capture global social data insights with analytics;
•Aspera’s high-speed data transfer tools;
•App health and performance monitoring services; and,
•Cloudant’s flexible, high-performing Database-as-a-Service.

These startups will also be able to connect with IBM’s enterprise clients, gain access to an extensive network of local technical expertise, as well as receive support from IBM Global Entrepreneur, all under IBM’s Cloud Ecosystem of four million developers and 143,000 companies.

The IBM Global Entrepreneur Program will have two program offerings, which are the Value Program and Volume Program. The Value Program will grant Cloud Startups USD10,000 per month of services on IBM Softlayer or IBM Bluemix, or both services. The Volume Program totals up to USD12,000 a year, where an amount of USD1,000 per month of services will be offered.

Interested Cloud Startups who wish to get the backing of IBM’s immense infrastructure and network under the program will have to meet requirements upon application. The startup have to be less than five years old based on the company registration date, with a revenue per annum not more than USD1 million. Those who applying for the Value Program, will need to meet an additional criteria of being a part of an accelerator community under IBM’s list.

“The cloud market in Malaysia remains untapped with a good growth potential. Through IBM GEP, we plan to expand our presence among local cloud startups and help them grow as vital players in the industry, which ultimately secures the future of IBM’s business in Malaysia as well,” said Balwinder Gill, Software Cloud Leader, IBM Malaysia. “IBM is one of the leading players in cloud computing, and our long term vision is to create a strong cloud ecosystem by connecting local players with the big players to further develop Malaysia’s cloud entrepreneurs.”
