Kaspersky Lab, along with venture industry leaders Mangrove Capital Partners and ABRT Venture Fund, will host the inaugural startup workshop at Singapore Polytechnic. Taking place on 30 April 2015, the workshop will host technopreneurs from the region seeking insights and trends for startups venturing into cybersecurity.
Cyberthreats are a global problem and their number and sophistication continues to evolve significantly. In line with its mission to help police cyberattacks, Kaspersky Lab is determined to build awareness, encourage dialogue and run educational programs that contribute towards international collaboration in the fight against cybercrime.
The workshop will feature keynote presentations on business models in cybersecurity, metrics and planning growth. In addition, Vitaly Kamluk, Principal Security Researcher, Global Research & Analysis Team, Kaspersky Lab and a member of INTERPOL’s Digital Forensics Lab Team, will be present at the event as well.
Vitaly, who is speaking at the InnovFest Unbound event at the Suntec Convention & Exhibition Centre on April 29, joins various esteemed panelists to talk about the industry outlook as well as the startup ecosystem during the one-day workshop at Singapore Polytechnic.
The workshop is organized alongside a brand-new global initiative designed to identify and nurture new talent for the security industry. The Security Startup Challenge (SSC) is a mentor-driven acceleration program developed and implemented by the Kaspersky Academy, in partnership with venture industry leaders, Mangrove Capital Partners and the ABRT Venture Fund. SSC will provide startups with access to cutting-edge business, cybersecurity and cross-industry expertise from around the world.
Running from March to August, the Security Startup Challenge 2015 will comprise a preliminary series of two-day workshops, in Jerusalem, Berlin, San Francisco and Moscow before culminating in Singapore. This will be followed by a three-month acceleration program which will include two bootcamps in Luxembourg and end with a grand finale at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA).
40 places are available at SSC 2015, offering founders of startup projects in cybersecurity and related areas, such as fintech, healthcare, mobile, the Internet of Things, and the Cloud, a chance to build their knowledge and compete for an US$80,000 prize fund and post-program support.
