Seeburger Makes Malaysia ASEAN Hub

German-based business integration solutions provider Seeburger has officially announced office presence in Malaysia, while at same time making the newly-set up local representative office, headquarters for the ASEAN region.

With already 19 offices around the globe, Seeburger serves over 8000 customers from a diverse range of industries, helping these mid- to-large corporations manage their data communications and providing seamless data sharing integration support between their internal and external channels.  Some of the big names associated with Seeburger include Siemens, Bosch, Osram, Volkswagen and more.

German software vendor, SAP is also a long established Seeburger partner in terms of solutions integration as well as go-to-market initiatives. Seeburger regional managing director, James Hatcher explained, “SAP uses B2B technology from Seeburger.”

Hatcher said, “In Malaysia, our local partners are Time Engineering Berhad and Datamation (M) SB – both will concentrate on providing Seeburger’s flagship Business Integration Suite (BIS) to the local industries. “

Seeburger’s BIS is touted to be the industry’s first unified platform for secure B2B and managed file transfer (MFT).  This offering has undergone testing and certification for SHA-2 (Secure Hashing Algorithm) optional Test Profile for government and industry users requiring security that is stronger than currently provided by the AS2 standard.

Hatcher emphasised, “Seeburger is the only vendor with complete MFT and full data security for small-medium sized, corporate enterprise and government-level organisations. “

The German company recognised low-hanging-fruit opportunities in Malaysia due to the government’s latest data security and governance policy that is due to be enforced in 2013.

“We believe that as the country’s cybersecurity baseline for the Critical National Information Infrastructure (CNII) sectors in Malaysia, this government-led compliance initiative will be an important impetus for organisations to look into their information security systems – and this is why business integration and MFT comes right into the picture,” Hatcher said.

Convergence of capabilities

The regional MD observed that the fields of MFT, enterprise application integration (EAI) and B2B communications have converged, necessitating a relook at the definition of MFT. However he also estimated that the global market worth multi-billion dollars.

Hatcher:  Malaysia is showing leadership in the area of data security with the

impending Information Security Management System (ISMS) deadline enforcement by 2013.

With ageing infrastructures that have been around since as far back as 2001, Hatcher opined that companies would be looking towards consolidation and modernisation at least, if not replacement of their legacy technologies.

With typical implementation times of two to six months, Seeburger seeks to complement and provide additional capabilities on top of an organisation’s existing solutions, whilst also slowly swapping out their legacy EDI if required.
