The Access Group Expands Footprint with Acquisition of Sage in Asia & Australia

Despite pandemic challenges, The Access Group announced that it has completed the acquisition of Sage Group’s local businesses in Asia and Australia. The acquisition includes the company’s Malaysian UBS accounting software, Singapore’s EasyPay payroll solution, Australian HandiSoft Tax and Practice management solution for accounting firms, MicrOpay and WageEasy compliant payroll solutions.

Following this latest acquisition and the recent purchases of Volcanic, who run their Asia Pacific operations from Kuala Lumpur, Attaché and Unleashed in the APAC region, Access has strengthened its global market presence and now serves 71,000 customers world-wide.

Building on Sage’s 30 years of experience in the country, Access will continue to provide the same level of support to all customers across the region and continue to deliver solutions that empower people and businesses.

Chris Bayne, CEO of The Access Group, commenting on the announcement, said, “This latest acquisition supports our regional strategy and focuses on delivering solutions that meet the needs of our growing customer base. We welcome Sage Group’s customers, partners and employees into The Access Group.”

We are reinventing and building resilience in the midst of the pandemic
Kerry Agiasotis, President of The Access Group, Asia Pacific

For seamless continuity, Kerry Agiasotis will transition from his position at Sage to become President of The Access Group, Asia Pacific.

Commenting on the acquisition, Kerry said, “Having managed the Sage business in Asia Pacific for the last four years, I have closely observed Malaysia gearing towards becoming a productivity driven nation.

“We recognize that Malaysia has entered a lockdown, and this again, greatly impacts businesses. However we have long term confidence in the nation’s recovery and I remain assured of Malaysia’s path towards becoming a high income nation by 2028 as recently forecasted by the World Bank.

“We are encouraged to see how Malaysians have fastened the shift towards greater digital adoption – reinventing and building resilience in the midst of the pandemic. We feel that we can contribute positively towards Malaysia’s technology acceleration and growth trajectory. The union of Sage Group’s local businesses in Asia and Australia and The Access Group’s established presence in the region presents a unique opportunity for customers and partners to leverage a leader in integrated people and financial management software services,” added Kerry.

The Access Group will bring its global SaaS solution, Access Workspace, to the region which connects payroll, finance, HR and digital learning applications to one platform, transforming the way software solutions are used, and giving every employee the freedom to do more from a simple, single sign-on interface.

“Kerry’s significant leadership experience in the payroll and software services market, combined with our global and local resources to develop the payroll and accounting software solutions will augment Access’ growing portfolio of software solutions. We are transforming our customers’ ability to give every employee the freedom to do more through fully integrated Software as a Service solutions like Access Workspace.

“I’m very proud of how Access has shown, not only resilience, but also huge progress and growth during the past incredibly challenging 18 months and am thrilled Kerry will be making the transition to Access to lead the region,” added Chris.
