CALMS Technologies Sdn Bhd, a smart card solution provider, announces today the official launch of EDUPurS on Cloud, a system to empower education facilities and infrastructure to operate in a smarter environment. The innovative solution is supported and funded by Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) under the Product Development & Commercialization Fund (PCF). The event is launched by Dato’ Ng Wan Peng, Chief Operating Officer of MDEC at The Gardens Ballroom, Kuala Lumpur.
The EDUPURS on Cloud system is an ‘electronic purse’ that enables students to enjoy seamless and cashless transactions with ONE CARD. It provides an easy way for students to purchase stationaries, meals, event fees, printing, bus ride, electricity usage etc. without the need to carry physical cash. Parents or Students will have the option to top up the electronic purse through many modes that include over the counter in schools itself, online banking facility via account transfer or credit card, through bank branches or event via self-service kiosk that can be deployed in school.
Each card is integrated with security systems to protect students and make the school or campus more secure. The card with individual credential and access right allows for automated authentication before allowing the card holder to access various facilities in the school or campus compound. Example of application is the Parent Pick Up system which not only control valid person to enter the compound but also helps to reduce traffic congestion where students can be disburse efficiently as they already aware which parents are already queuing to pick them up. EDUPurS unify security system by providing integration with other vital security layer such as door access system, CCTV, mobile location base application, providing real-time awareness and intelligence that enhances student and campus safety effectively.

As a special incentive, CALMS is offering a Special Promotion of FREE USE of the Standard Package for one semester (around 4 months) for the first five (5) education institutions to agree to come on board. No commitment of contract is required and all they have to do is to pay for the one time installation and training fee and purchase the consumables.
The standard package includes software and hardware to issue and print cards where one unit of card printer is provided, access to EDUPurS website, one unit of point of sales for canteen, one unit of point of sales for book store, one balance checker, two unit of attendance reader, one visitor management system and one local gateway. The EDUPurS on Cloud solution provides a clear path for safe, secure, cost-effective and efficient school environment. Participant Pass issued at the event has been given a prepaid value such that they can use it for simulation of purchases at the canteen or retail point of sales system, capture attendance, pay for bus fare, energy or just for verification of ID registered.
The launch brings CALMS to the next phase of existence to move into the borderless cloud world such that its solution can now be easily deployed to other countries especially those within the ASEAN countries.
