Crossbeam Systems, Inc., the leading provider of next-generation security platforms for high-performance networks, announced the availability of a whitepaper authored by Gabriel Brown, senior analyst at Heavy Reading, an independent research organization offering deep analysis of emerging telecom trends. The whitepaper, titled “Testing High Performance Mobile Firewalls for 4G-LTE Networks,” examines the results of the industry’s first public network security tests that emulate more than a million simultaneous mobile subscribers using their smartphones and tablets (see today’s press release: Crossbeam and Spirent Partner to Define Real-World Security Test Methodology for Mobile Network Operators).
What: The tests, conducted by independent test center EANTC in December 2011, in collaboration with Crossbeam and Spirent Communications – the leader in networks, devices and services testing – evaluated the effectiveness of network security devices and how they perform under extremely demanding real-world conditions. Heavy Reading was closely involved in defining the test requirements. Brown will share highlights from his whitepaper and offer in-depth analysis of the challenges and requirements for testing security performance in mobile networks during a webinar to be held on February 7th.
“Mobile operators are keen to ensure they remain providers of secure communications services in the data era, and to accrue the value this creates,” said Brown. “Crossbeam, EANTC and Spirent have set a new benchmark for high-performance firewall testing in mobile networks, resulting in an industry-leading test plan for a product category that is increasingly important to enabling operators to securely scale Internet services in 3G and 4G/LTE networks.”
