Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content and threat management solutions launches the new version of its cloud-based security solution. Nowadays, the trend to block unwanted mails before they hit company boundaries continues. On the same side technologies to protect from Web threats and prevent employees to access potentially risky sites is rising. Kaspersky Lab provides both as a cloud based service. After the successful launch of the service in 2009 Kaspersky Lab now launches their new version of hosted security and yet again more simple to manage.
Small and medium-sized enterprises can find it difficult to understand and respond to the latest IT security threats in today’s rapidly evolving threat landscape. As business needs change, operations can become more complex and this in turn can affect IT security. To help channel partners support their clients in addressing the security implications of trends such as consumerisation, the increased use of mobile devices and social media, cloud computing, and virtualization, Kaspersky Lab is launching their new edition of Kaspersky Hosted Security, a cloud-based security solution for web and email.
According to Harry Cheung, Managing Director, Kaspersky Lab APAC, «we recognizes the importance of small and medium-sized enterprises to the South East Asia economy and introduction of Kaspersky Hosted Security will ensure them to utilize the IT infrastructure in a cyber environment with a cost-effective solution that does not compromise on quality and protection».
“Kaspersky has a deep heritage with both consumers and business in South East Asia who rely on us to protect their computers and servers. The state-of-the-art security technologies in Kaspersky Hosted Security ensures that employees in organizations using emails, accessing the Internet or make use of social media are not interrupted by spam, malware and other unwanted content that may jeopardize the integrity of the IT systems, squander system resources and hinder employee productivity,” added Mr. Cheung.
Malware and viruses represent the number one IT security headache for businesses of all sizes and across all sectors closely followed by spam and phishing attacks. More than 70,000 unique malware samples are identified every day by Kaspersky Lab experts. Protecting the business against such web- and email-borne threats is a major challenge particularly for smaller firms who typically do not have relevant IT expertise or resources in place. A cloud-based solution such as Kaspersky Hosted Security represents an ideal option for these firms as it requires no investment in IT infrastructure or equipment, no specialist security skills, and can be easily scaled up or down to meet changing business needs.
Statistics from Gartner and other analysts firms clearly show the economic damage caused by unsolicited mail. And all analysts agree and maintain a solid credo for “In the cloud / preemptive” e-mail protection.
The upgraded Kaspersky Hosted Security represents a cost-effective solution with a strong business case that is easy to sell, configure, and support. With a service level agreement guaranteed by Kaspersky Lab, it provides a low-risk platform for added-value services and consultancy such as additional gateway, server and endpoint protection.
“We are delighted to launch this new version of Kaspersky Hosted Security in South East Asia to address a growing business need,” said Bernie Bengler, APAC Director Cloud Services & SaaS at Kaspersky Lab. “As the threat landscape continues to grow, smaller firms are as vulnerable and exposed as their larger counterparts, but often lack the budgets and capability to explore and invest in expensive security. The new edition of Kaspersky Hosted Security offers small and mid-sized businesses and their trusted channel partners a reliable and powerful first line of defense in web and email protection which is extremely easy to manage.”
According to recent Frost & Sullivan end-user study, 34% of organizations stated that Cloud Computing is their number one priority. The survey also shows that one-third of organizations in Malaysia are using some form of cloud computing.
“The positive uptake of cloud technology in Malaysia provides an opportunity to Kaspersky Lab as this product comes in cloud-based solution and it represents an ideal option for organizations as it requires no investment in IT infrastructure or equipment, no specialist security skills, and can be easily scaled up or down to meet changing business needs,” said Mr. Jimmy Fong, Channel Sales Director, SEA, Kaspersky Lab.
Kaspersky Hosted Security comprises two modules: Kaspersky Hosted Email Security and Kaspersky Hosted Web Security.
Kaspersky Hosted Email Security reliably and continuously protects businesses against email-borne malware, spam and phishing emails by blocking attacks in the cloud with minimal impact on IT equipment and end users. It ensures business continuity when company servers fail and protects against mail server overload. The solution prevents potentially destructive Denial of Service (DoS) attacks and Directory Harvest Attacks (DHA), and allows businesses to enforce email security policies through the use of attachment handling. Email data is protected and legally complaint at all times and is processed at one of Kaspersky Lab’s highly secure, certified data locations based in Singapore.
Kaspersky Hosted Web Security combines web security and web filtering in a single service, protecting the corporate network against web-borne threats such as malware and spyware. It offers companies a platform to control inbound and outbound web communications and to enforce proper employee use of the internet. It protects against undesirable or dangerous web content, optimizes network resources by removing bandwidth congestion, protects remote and roaming workers, and creates comprehensive reports.
