4G telecommunication provider YTL Comms has been awarded with a RM 663 mil project; the 1Bestarinet project for two years.
The project is to provide Internet connectivity for selected schools which it ensure connectivity of up to 10Mbps to all urban schools and up to 4Mbps for a total of 9,924 schools in Malaysia.
Up to date, about 1,800 schools have been connected with wireless 4G connectivity.
The 1Bestarinet project is part of the Economic Transformation Programme of the PM Dato Najib administration.
YTL Comm had launched Yes 4G Mobile Internet on Nov 2010 where it primarily targeting students as core users during the initial launch.
