A new Ericsson survey has seen city-based respondents rank mobile network coverage fourth on a list of what makes urban-dwellers most satisfied. The Ericsson Consumer Lab report, ‘City Life’, interviewed people in 13 major cities to find out why people continue to live in cities, and which factors of city life create the most satisfaction. It showed that having access to online information and services meant that people were able to take advantage of what their city has to offer and also better deal with unexpected occurrences.
People in major cities were most satisfied with the availability of cafes, restaurants and pubs, while the availability of shopping malls and food markets ranked second. The availability of entertainment services was the third highest ranked aspect of city life, with water distribution trailing mobile coverage in fifth spot.
Meanwhile, the report also found that 40% of city-dwellers own a smartphone, while 50% use their mobile phones each day to connect to the internet for both work and personal use. The average city resident also spends 45 minutes using social networks, according to Ericsson. – CommsDay.
