“Wolves are the only animals that take revenge…”
A chill literally ran down my spine when I heard Liam Neeson share this unnerving animal behaviour in the recent thriller ‘The Grey’.
The movie tells of a desperate bid by a group of oil workers being hunted down by a pack of wolves after surviving a plane crash in the freezing plains of Alaska.
As the group leader (with designation of ‘professional wolf-killer’), Liam Neeson makes concerted efforts to get the survivors as far away from the possibility of being in the dangerous parameters of a wolves’
lair.
Only in the end, to find himself smack right in the middle of home base, staring straight into the eyes of a gigantic, snarling Alpha….
Funnily, I found myself reminded of the story of a fast-rising star in an American IT brand MNC.
This fast-talking IT sales professional was the blue-eyed boy in the local set up of the company. Equipped with the gift of the gab, it only took him a short six years to climb to the close top of his career.
Thanks also to his conniving negotiation skills, he garnered much success for the company in mega government projects and banking deals.
Of course this was not without gaining the jealousy of his big boss – who felt that his own limelight was being eroded, and the respect due to him by all his staff being divided and conquered by the rising star.
Both Alpha males by nature, one had to leave the company and naturally the more junior employee had to go.
Quitting on bad terms, he bad mouthed his ex-boss while making every attempt to find a job as far away as possible from his ex-company.
He took up an offer with a local firm, where he thought that he could continue the rise to the pinnacle of his career.
But as all sad tales unfold, someone eventually has to go.
In less just than six months, the local firm was acquired by the larger American company and blue-eyed boy found himself staring right back into the eyes of his Alpha ex-boss.
