Taiwan PC maker ASUS scooped up five T3 Gadget Awards this year, including Tech Brand of the Year and Gadget of the Year.
The UK-based tech and gadget magazine praised the company for its ability to buck expectations, saying that while ASUS was previously famous for its Eee PC netbooks, the company had “…reset perceptions with the brilliant Android 4.0 Transformer Prime tablet.” The website also noted that the ASUS Zenbook UX31 Ultrabook was “…one of the finest exponents of the new Ultrabook craze.”
ASUS also took in the T3 Design Award for its EE Pad Transformer Prime, which T3 called “the best looking Android tablet yet.” Besides the tablet PC’s new Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, it also features a keyboard dock that offers users an alternative to inconvenient touchscreen typing as well as extends the tablet’s battery life by an additional 8 hours.
Another ASUS product that garnered several wins was the Google Nexus 7 tablet, which was named both Gadget of the Year and Tablet of the Year. T3 said that with its Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, top-of-the-range Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, stylish build, and reasonable price, the Nexus 7 had the potential to outsell every tablet on the market.
ASUS also won Computer of the Year for its Zenbook UX31. Despite being super slim, the 13.3-inch Zenbook possesses an i7 processor and 4G of RAM.
In addition, ASUS made the shortlist in six separate categories for products including the PadFone and the Zenbook UX31.
Several other Taiwan tech products made it into the runnings in this year’s T3 Awards, including the HTC One X smartphone, which was shortlisted for Phone of the Year and included in the long list for Work Gadget of The Year. The Aspire S3 from PC maker Acer, meanwhile, was featured in the long list for Computer of the Year, while the Garmin Montana 650T was on the long list for Commuter Gadget of the Year.
T3 is one of the UK’s leading consumer tech lifestyle magazines and websites. The publication features the latest tech news, gadget reviews and information on the biggest trends in today’s technology.
