Despite the uncertain macroeconomic climate, Citrix’s recently announced second quarter earnings emerged as a silver lining amidst the dark clouds.
The virtualization solutions provider achieved US$615 million in revenue, compared to US$531 million in the second quarter of fiscal 2011, representing a 16 percent revenue growth.
Asia Pacific continues to lead revenue growth for Citrix, attaining revenues of US$66 million – a 24 percent increase as compared to Q2 FY2011. This growth outpaces the other regions, with the Americas at 11 percent and EMEA at 21 percent.
This quarter, Citrix continues to perform well at a competitive and strategic level, increasing the number of deals worth US$1 million and over by 50 percent. In particular, the Asia Pacific region accounted for four of the 39 large deals closed in Q2.
Citrix’s strong performance reflects the increasing importance of desktop virtualization and cloud computing as business imperatives. Citrix’s desktop solutions business grew 13 percent to over US$343 million, while the total revenue for the datacenter and cloud business increased by 20 percent to US$112 million.
“In Q2, we saw solid growth in an uncertain economic climate,” said Mark Templeton, president and chief executive officer for Citrix. “I’m pleased with our execution, and our strong market positions. As the rapid transformation from PC Era to Cloud Era continues, we’re delivering solutions that make it easy for customers to build new clouds, connect to cloud services, and empower their users to work from anywhere.”
