Public safety officers can now better operate their in-car camera systems using a dedicated touch-screen LCD control head that works in conjunction with the MVX1000 digital in-car video system by Motorola Solutions. Many departments desire in-car video capabilities that operate independently of a laptop or mobile workstation.
Video is becoming increasingly relied upon by law enforcement. A recent study conducted by the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF) showed that 46-percent of law enforcement agencies surveyed use wireless video streaming in some capacity. An earlier International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) study showed that 93-percent of officer misconduct charges were overturned by video evidence.
The MVX1000 is an efficient in-car video capture and management solution that combines high-quality video, reliable ruggedised construction, an intuitive touch-screen interface and a versatile back-end digital media management system to help protect officers and citizens. The control head, which is typically mounted near the rear view mirror, takes up little space and is easily operated with a few clicks.
Key features:
- The LCD control head provides a dedicated, intuitive user interface (UI) that works specifically with the MVX1000 digital in-car video system. It has a five-inch colour display that is large enough to be clear and easy to use but small enough to remain unobtrusive.
- Designed for mission-critical use, the LCD control head is ruggedised and built to withstand vibration, dust, moisture and temperature extremes. It also features IP54 sealing, which keeps out dust and protects the unit against splashing liquids, ensuring reliable operation in the field.
- The most frequently needed hardware buttons (such as record and bookmark) are placed in the corners where they can be found by touch alone. When driving conditions permit, this design enables eyes-off operation, so public safety users can activate the system simply and quickly while focusing on driving, patrol or other higher-priority tasks.
- The same design language is used in both the LCD UI and the computer-based UI, so officers can easily switch between vehicles with computers and vehicles without them.
Today, citizens expect to place a call for help either by voice, text or sending images and video. Motorola is helping public safety agencies answer this new kind of call for help by better connecting citizens and public safety agencies via NG911 technologies. The Intrado alliance represents another important milestone in Motorola’s dedication to delivering on the vision of next generation public safety. By offering end-to-end NG911 ready solutions, public safety agencies can immediately begin to improve call-handling capabilities, streamline their operations and speed response.
Key Facts:
- The agreement further enhances Motorola’s Next Generation Integrated Command and Control capabilities by bringing together the most advanced NG9-1-1 incident management solutions available today.
- Motorola’s expanded alliance with Intrado leverages the deep command and control domain expertise of both parties and includes joint collaboration on creating integrated, intelligent dispatch workflows for improved call handling and dispatching functions.
- As Public Safety LTE broadband networks continue to be deployed, Motorola and Intrado are accelerating the intelligent delivery, access and use of real-time multimedia information both in the command center and in the field. Public Safety agencies will have access to new data services, and the flexibility to personalise and control the data to deliver the most relevant information when and where they need it.
