Kyndryl, a leading provider of mission-critical enterprise technology services, in collaboration with Microsoft, announced the findings of the third annual Global Sustainability Barometer Study, conducted by Ecosystm. The study reveals that Singapore organizations are accelerating sustainability efforts faster than their global peers, fueled by rising pressure to meet compliance expectations and demonstrate return-on-investment (ROI).
The research shows that 87% of Singapore organizations say they maintained or advanced sustainability efforts this year, up from 60% in 2024 and higher than the global average of 66%. The findings reflect rising expectations in Singapore’s evolving sustainability landscape, as companies prepare for stricter climate-related disclosures under SGX rules, rising carbon taxes, and guidance on greener digital infrastructure. At the same time, Singapore organizations are increasingly turning to technology to support these goals, with 58% saying their IT teams now drive sustainability goals across the enterprise, up from 40% in 2024, and 63% report strong alignment between IT and sustainability teams.

Integration-Focused Organizations Lead the Way Globally
The 2025 Global Sustainability Barometer Study identifies a decisive shift from years prior: leading organizations embed sustainability into core business processes to outperform their peers across regions and industries.
Singapore shows one of the highest concentrations of integration-focused organizations globally, with 35% compared to the global average of 16%. In addition, 52% of Singapore organizations have also embedded sustainability as a core driver of innovation, cost savings, and long-term resilience, compared to just 17% globally.
The use of predictive AI for improved outcomes is also on the rise. Compared with last year, 63% now forecast resource use and emissions to anticipate future impact (up from 35%), while 53% focus on anticipating climate risks, rising from 45%.

Key Singapore Findings:
- ROI drives sustainability progress: 52% of organizations cite unclear ROI and difficulty measuring impact as key barriers; yet only 35% use AI centrally to drive environmental decisions – a step that would directly address this challenge. Among organizations that accelerated sustainability in the past year, 67% did so after proving a stronger business case, clearer ROI or new revenue.
· Data hurdles are structural: 50% of organizations struggle to collect data from internal systems and 43% contend with missing or incomplete information. Gaps in infrastructure and processes are blocking reliable AI insights.
· Organizations still focused on ‘quick wins’: 80% of organizations focus on energy-efficient hardware and systems, 67% server utilization and consolidation and 63% FinOps. Lifecycle actions lag at 33% for extending asset life and e-waste and 18% for sustainable IT procurement.
· Agentic AI making inroads: While only 5% of organizations have deployed agentic AI for sustainability, another 23% are piloting or implementing agentic AI use across the organization. Organizations today have the opportunity to overcome long-standing challenges in bridging strategy and execution.
